In 2014, we—Brian and Mary Jean Laechelin—bought a raw, untouched piece of land just outside of San Antonio, Texas in a town called Saint Hedwig. To say our families thought we were crazy is an understatement. With nothing but determination and a dream, we spent our weekends clearing brush, driving T-posts, and carving out pastures under the Texas sun.
A year later, we bought a 386-square-foot tiny home and made the big move to what we lovingly called "The Land". It was humble, but it was ours. We started out raising commercial cattle and built up our herd over the next decade, learning the land and the lifestyle firsthand.
Eventually, our passion began to shift. We had two children and found ourselves drawn to goats—their ability to be worked easily, personalities, and the community surrounding them. We raise both dairy goats and commercial show Boer goats. In 2024, we made the decision to concentrate our energy and resources mainly on breeding top-quality Boer show goats for FFA and 4-H projects.
We’ve been steadily building a powerhouse herd, sourcing does and nannies from some of the most competitive bloodlines in and around Texas. Our genetics now include animals from Pfeiffer Livestock, Blue Team Wethers, La Copa, Jendrusch Livestock, and 5 Star Boer Goats. Our goal is simple: to bring high-performance Boer goats to the San Antonio area and support the next generation of young showmen and women with animals they can be proud of.
It’s been a wild, rewarding journey—and we’re just getting started. We hope to be part of your journey and that we can provide you with quality showstock. In addition, we provide our community with honey from our hives, fresh goat milk from our small nubian herd and eggs from our chickens. We are always busy tending to the needs of our children and the farm.
